6 Clever Ways to Save on Groceries Today!

Hello Friends!

Here is a GREAT list of tips to save money on groceries by Lisa Chan!

Spend better, save more, and eat well with these 6 clever ways to save money on groceries:

1. Set up a budget.

If you want to have more control over the dollars you spend in a grocery store, you will have to first set up a monthly grocery budget. One way to start doing this is to look back on your last month’s purchases and do some simple math. Determine your monthly budget and stick to it.

2. Allot time for meal planning each week.

This is the second best piece of advice you should heed if you want to save money on groceries. Why? Because intentionality breeds frugality. A budget dictates your money what to do, while meal plans dictate your food what to do. When you have a clear idea of what you will be eating, you know exactly what food items to buy and waste less. Sit down and plan each meal for every day of the week.

3. Check your freezer, fridge, and pantry.

As you’re meal planning, take an inventory of what’s already in your kitchen. Build your meals on what you already have and shop for the rest.

4. Visualize your social calendar.

If you’ve got events or nights out planned ahead, block them on your meal planning schedule so you can prepare quicker and easier meals.

5. Find coupons.

Don’t just skim through that coupon you found on today’s paper or the discount code you saw on your Facebook feed. These are incredibly useful tools to save up on grocery dollars. Use these coupons to guide your meal plans, too.

6. Shop sale items.

This takes a little practice as you train yourself to always be on the lookout for sale seasons on your favorite meat and poultry cuts, or buy one get one milk cartons. Take advantage of weekly store sales. Take note of sale date starts and ends.
